EcoEnergy Retrofit Program - Government Rebates for Increasing Energy Efficiency in the Home!

The Eco Energy Retrofit Program enables Canadians to take advantage of up to $5,000 in home energy rebates to increase their home’s energy efficiency. This popular Canadian program was renewed for the period covering June 6, 2011 to March 31, 2012. It aims to encourage Canadians to incorporate greener and more energy efficient systems into their existing homes. This opportunity is only available to the owners of existing homes.

In order to qualify for this government grant, new and past program participants must first receive a registration number. They can apply for this registration number on the program's website. Participants will not receive any grant money until the retrofits of their homes are complete. They will then be reimbursed. In order to qualify for reimbursement, the home must first have a pre-retrofit inspection performed, a post-retrofit inspection performed, and all necessary paperwork must be filed by March 31, 2012

The grant money for this program is limited to $400 million. Once that money runs out, no more grants will be awarded. It is essential for homeowners who wish to participate in this program to begin as early as possible. Any evaluations performed after March 31, 2012, or after all grant money has been disbursed, will not qualify for any reimbursement funds.
