So, why be a teacher?

To become a teacher may not be an easy decision to some. However, it should not be such a hard choice to make given that teaching is one of the greatest professions anyone can be involved in.

This is because teaching is the noblest profession in the whole world. It inspires, it motivates, it develops, it nurtures and it transforms. The world over, society is evolving day in day out as a result of teaching that goes around us. It goes on in various forms and at various levels in every aspect of our lives. And that answers your question; “why teach?”

To be a teacher is an honor as it makes one a manufacturer of all manner of persons, molding persons from scratch into what they become later on in life through various methods of teaching, often respectable people in society.

You are where you are today because someone taught you at some point in life. Not just one person, but different people have taught you different things along the way, starting with your parents or guardian which mostly happens in an informal setting compared to a formal setting that happens in a school.

Teaching therefore is a remarkable responsibility. There are different teaching credentials for one to be a teacher, but the most important of them all is that one should have a passion, a desire to make a difference and positive impact in the lives of many.

Why teach?

To become a teacher enables you to pass across knowledge and understanding to learners. It is honorable since it makes someone wiser. It is the reason why teachers teach. They do so to provide knowledge, to instruct or impart knowledge or skills to those receiving it.

Through teaching you have an impact in society. You are able to make a difference in society, whether positive or negative. If you are an effective teacher, you are able to affect the future in a positive way by way of the knowledge and information that you pass to your learners.

You become a teacher to mould people into great persons in society. We have professors, we have presidents, we have engineers, we have bankers, we have technicians, we have scientists, we have businessmen and many other great people in the world because we have teachers who taught them in their areas of interest at some point in their lives.

So basically when you choose to be a teacher, you choose to make a difference in the lives of young people. You are able to assist learners achieve a variety of skills and needs, both personal and academic. You help leaders get ready for life after school for those in schools developing them for the future.

Above all, when you teach, you attain some personal fulfillment and feel a sense of achievement knowing that you have had an impact on someone’s life and someone’s future.

It is a rewarding profession and that is why you should teach.
